A bit about Ankur Warikoo

He is an Indian YouTuber, entrepreneur and author. He is the former CEO of Groupon India, co-founder & former CEO of Nearbuy. (That’s copied from wikipedia)

My perception :

He is a failure who doesn’t know how to give up. He knows how to build a brand. 1 in every 10 would sure have clicked those Youtube annoying ads of him. He is the perfect example of you can be big as long as you don’t give up (or jump off a ten floored building after losing everything).

I was on the weekend at my friend’s and saw this book. My first question was who reads this. Of-course he hadn’t read it. Seeing it there with the yellow cover made me went to read it. I borrowed it for a week(smart going with the yellow cover, man knows how to attract people).

The book was short. I completed it in a few hours.(Good, since I didn’t had to waste a lot of time reading and rereading the same sentence in different tones).

At the beginning Ankur says open any page of the book and read it. And that is the best advice since this is not a book. Its more like a dictionary without index.

It doesn’t tell you how to DO EPIC SHIT!

Its about the life experiences and wisdom of a 40 year old man who has tried a lot of things.

This man isn’t genius. This man doesn’t has a very high IQ. This man doesn’t make very good decisions. This man doesn’t know how to handle priorities. This man makes a lot of mistakes in every part of life. He doesn’t know how to handle money.

You might think low of him now since I’ve insulted so much. But that’s the thing, this man is like any of us.

He’s no special like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk or Albert Einstein.

He is so normal that you can compare him to a day to day uncle or yourself.

What makes him apart from any other is he learns from his mistake. He doesn’t fear from doing the same thing again but this time avoiding mistakes he made last time(mostly).

That is what he tells in his book.

This is not a book. It is like collection of small articles each of which has different types of advice.

Almost every page is another advice altogether.

To be honest its very bad from a book perspective. Its is difficult to read it continuously since every page is tells a different story. You can’t get immersed in his book.

The good thing about the book is the lessons is concise and to the point. And as he suggested the best way to read it is to open any random page and read that.

Recommendation for the book : 5/10

Interesting : 2/10

Life advices : 7/10

Rating based on the bullshit in the book(more the better) : 9/10.

If you have time you can read it else skip it.

Most of the advice is covered in other books top self help books. There is no India specific advice in this one(since the author is Indian, I expected some).

If you have read it. Let me know how it was!

“Excellence is not about perfection. It’s about the struggle to get there. It’s about knowing what to do when you don’t know what to do.” — Ankur Warikoo

Cheers :)
