In this fast-moving and highly competitive world, making significant life changes is challenging. There are always a lot of Dependencies, Responsibilities and Backlogs. Here are the five quick changes you can make for an immediate positive change.

Get a 2 Litre Bottle.

Water is the 2nd most essential thing for humans after oxygen. Yet Indians are drinking less than two litres per day. Whereas the minimum recommended water intake is 2.5–3 litres.
There are so many benefits of drinking water that a whole article can be written on it. But to state a few important ones.

  • Flushes out toxins and avoids kidney stone formation.
  • Improves and moistures skin.
  • It helps in weight loss, making you feel full and increasing your metabolism.

A 2-litre bottle will supply you with water for a long time, reducing the effort required to fill a smaller bottle repeatedly. Keep the bottle by your side, and take small sips. I have this one.

Get a Gym membership.

This is for real. Get a gym membership asap. There is nothing more important than your mental and physical health. Good exercise improves both. Only the visible benefits like looking good, having muscles, reduced body pain, a healthy heart, more confidence and better self-esteem make the gym worth it. On top of that, the non-visible benefits like feel-good hormones released, which will elevate your mood.
The only thing you need to do is get a membership. Nobody is 100% disciplined all the time; we all lapse. For example, yesterday after dinner, I felt a massive urge to eat more and ended up eating two maggies at 1 PM. Getting a gym membership will ensure that when you lapse, something will kick you back in the ring. Since you already have invested money in it, you’ll be compelled to go. It will ensure eating two maggies at night doesn’t become your way of life.

Buy a Book and Keep it Near Your Bed.

Even if you are not a reader or a seasonal reader, keeping a book near your bed will ensure you read it in the morning or night. There are a lot of benefits to reading books. Exercise for the brain, Knowledge, increase in attention span, Stress reduction, motivation etc.
I would suggest starting with The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho or The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. The former is a fictional book, and the latter is an excellent self-help book.

Use Sticky Notes

If I ever meet Arthur Fry, I won’t be able to thank him enough for this invention. In this fast-moving world, keeping track of everything in your mind is impossible. Sticky notes come to the rescue.

  • In a Team-meeting and suddenly remember that groceries are needed, write them into sticky notes, stick them on the wall in front of you and order them when the meeting ends.
  • Remember to buy dry fruits when watching a movie. Stick a note and focus on your movie.
  • Just came home, and a friend called asking to analyse the stock market; you are tired. Stick a note and go to sleep.

This will make sure you don’t miss tasks in your backlog.

Call your parents

Our moms call us every day; we take it for granted more often than not. Every Relationship is essential; if you forge a relationship, it's your job to keep it ignited. Saying this from the experience of messing up almost all my relations with friends, parents and workmates at one point or another. Keep your circle small but strong.
Call your friends often, and send a message or reel if calling is impossible. Ask how they are a time to time. Call your dad on weekends. Call your mom and ask what she is cooking. Call your workmates and ask them to hang out and stress less. Video call them out of the blue.
You are a social animal, and you need these relationships/people, and they need you, just like your bike helping you in commute and you providing her petrol, air and timely servicing. Make sure you maintain your relationships proactively.

These are the top five things that come you my mind. These will help improve your mental and physical health. Plus, they are super easy to do.

If you liked this article, clap! It motivates me to write more.
Cheers :)
